Don’t Do This…
Imagine finding the home of your dreams and then watching it slip through your fingers. This past week, I heard about a couple looking to purchase their very first home. They received a pre-qualification letter and believed they were all set to shop for their new home. After touring several houses, they finally found one they LOVED!
Unlike HGTV’s popular show, House Hunters, where every homebuyer finds their “happily ever after” ending, this story is a cautionary tale.
The couple found their dream home and it was perfect! All they needed to do was write an offer, but instead of submitting their offer right away, they decided to wait and “sleep on it.”
The next morning, the buyers were ready to write the offer and as they were adding their signatures, the listing agent called to inform them that the Seller had accepted an offer received the night before!
The couple came to the painful realization that they had made a terrible mistake. The disappointment of losing the house would linger on as the couple continued to compare the “lost” home to each subsequent house they toured, until they eventually settled for something less than ideal.
The moral of the story? When you find a house you love, write an offer immediately — and have your financing in place, so your offer is strong. Don’t miss out on the house of your dreams. Be prepared to act quickly!
